Children's Ministry FAQ's
Who is responsible for our children’s ministry? We have a wonderful lay team of volunteer leaders. This team consists of Christine Sutton, Sheila Fitzgerald, Diana High, Jennifer Black, Jill Maeda, Krystle Zerbe, and Peggy Vizzari. Christine Sutton is the chairperson for this team and sits on our Church Council.
What are future plans for children’s ministry? Beginning in March we are adjusting our Sunday morning format to include a combined opening time of worship and an interactive Bible lesson for our elementary children. The Bible remains the core of our curriculum. Children will continue personally interacting with the Bible lesson in their age specific classes following the opening larger group Worship and Bible lesson. We also will hold Easter Camp on March 20 and Vacation Bible School the week of June 20.
How will the Bible Lesson and Worship be done? This will vary somewhat. The lesson might be read, presented via a drama sketch, puppets, or other means that help children connect with the story. The children will take an active part in participating with the Bible lesson. The music for the worship time might be via a CD/DVD or led by an adult or youth from our Worship Ministry teams.
What about the classroom experience? The small group time will be much as it is now with discussion of the Bible lesson and age appropriate activities designed to help children understand and apply the Bible lesson in their lives.
How can parents be involved? We always welcome your input and questions. Please talk to or email the team or Pastor Sam at any time. We also would love you to volunteer in our nursery, preschool, or elementary ministry. We have plenty of opportunities, and many do not require a weekly commitment or extensive preparation. Please check with us and/or the Children’s Ministry bulletin board for up to date information.
How can I keep informed? Harvester’s weekly WOW e-letter, worship bulletin, bi-monthly newsletter, our website, and the Children’s bulletin board are all used to keep the church informed. Also, feel free to contact the Children’s Ministry team at any time.
