Prayer Ministry
|
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
James 5:15
Prayer is absolutely essential to the life of any believer and any church. Therefore, our prayer ministry begins by encouraging everyone at Harvester to be a person of prayer.
The Lord commands us in Colossians 4:2 to “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful,” and also in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing.”
There are individuals within our congregation who feel called to pray more intentionally for people’s requests. This ministry began with two people meeting in the prayer garden gazebo. We now number 20 among our intercessors who lift up praises, answered prayers and prayer requests.
Our prayer ministry consists of the following three groups:
1) Prayer Team
This team meets every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary for a time of devotion and prayer. Prayer requests are prayed for by our prayer team for 30 days unless otherwise specified. If the team receives an address with a prayer request, a representative from the team will send the person prayed for a card of encouragement. Along with the requests they receive, this team also lifts up two families from the congregation each week and mails them a postcard of encouragement.
Prayer requests may be submitted using "Prayer Request" cards which are available in the seat-back pockets in the sanctuary and on the prayer table in the hall. Completed requests may be placed in the offering basket or you can direct them to Teresa in the church office. Requests may also be sent to the church office via email by clicking here or by calling 948-2311.
2) Prayer Warriors
Each week these individuals receive (via email) a list of requests to personally lift up in prayer.
3) Prayer Chain
This group is a telephone-chain of people who pray for urgent, emergency requests. To activate the prayer chain, call the church office at 948-2311 during office hours.
